Fee Benchmarking:
Know What Your Plan Is Paying
Retirement plan fees are a fiduciary issue and plan sponsors have an obligation to understand what they are paying and whether those fees are reasonable relative to the services provided. Advisors have an opportunity to help them do that.
RPG offers a free fee benchmarking service to help advisors and plan sponsors evaluate plan costs clearly and objectively.
Two Situations Where We Can Help
Plans already on the RPG platform
For advisors and plan sponsors working with RPG, fee benchmarking provides a straightforward look at what the plan is paying, broken down by service category. Our fee structure is fully transparent, with no revenue sharing that obscures the true cost. This analysis supports the fiduciary review process and reinforces to the plan sponsor that fees have been reviewed.
Plans on other platforms
If you are evaluating a plan currently administered or recordkept elsewhere, RPG can benchmark those fees against industry averages and our own. This gives you a side-by-side comparison that is useful in any conversion conversation. Our approach is educational: we present the numbers and let the comparison speak for itself.
Breaking It All Down
Many plan fee structures are not easy to read. Revenue sharing, asset-based fees layered on top of fixed costs, and bundled arrangements can obscure what the plan is actually paying for administration and recordkeeping. RPG’s analysis breaks the fees into component parts so advisors and plan sponsors can evaluate them clearly.
There is no cost for this service and no obligation. If the analysis shows that a plan is well-priced, we will tell you that. If it shows there is a better option available, we will show you what that looks like.
Reasonable, Not Just Cheapest
Benchmarking gives you a clear, objective read on the fee side of that equation. What it can’t put a number on is service — the responsiveness, accuracy, and support standing behind those fees. We give you the cost picture; weighing it against the services and quality you actually receive is the other half of the decision.
